Young Frankenstein Wins SEVEN DASH Awards!

This past Saturday night, Norton Singers was honored to receive a total of SEVEN awards (out of nine nominations) at the annual EMACT DASH festival held at Cary Hall in Lexington, MA. The awards were for the spring production of Young Frankenstein--the most any group won for one production that evening.

The mission of the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theaters (EMACT) is to encourage and promote community theater in Eastern Massachusetts through educational programming, supportive services and the recognition of excellence. EMACT is a member of the American Association of Community Theaters (AACT). This year, over 100 greater Boston productions were adjudicated as part of the DASH process.

Out of that number, Norton Singers artists captured top honors in the following musical categories:

--Best Supporting Actor: Kevin Mischley (as Igor)
--Best Supporting Actress: Valerie Cabral (as Frau Blücher)
--Best Hair/Make-Up: Daniel Gravely
--Best Costumes: Kathryn Ridder
--Best Choreography: Samantha Brior-Jones
--Best Direction: Ted Mitchell

And finally, the ENTIRE cast was recognized for their collective work as "Best Ensemble" of the year for a musical.

We are all tremendously proud of the members of our Norton Singers family that were recognized, especially since there were so many other fine and deserving organizations in the greater Boston area putting on terrific theater this year.

What a way to end our 2016-17 season!
