Norton Singers is holding open auditions for the musical thriller Jekyll and Hyde.

Auditions will be held at the Norton Media Center, Norton Crossing, 184 West Main St. 2nd Floor in Norton, MA 02766 (right next to Trinity) on Monday February 8 and Tuesday, February 9, starting at 7 p.m. Callbacks for principal roles will be held on Thursday.

The popular musical, based on the novel The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, features music by Frank Wildhorn and a book by Leslie Bricusse. A fascinating study in the nature of good and evil, as well as a top-notch Gothic thriller, the show includes such well-known songs as "This Is the Moment" and  "A New Life" and has been revived on numerous occasions, most recently featuring Constantine Maroulis during its 4th Broadway revival.

All auditioners should prepare 16 bars each of a ballad and an up-beat tempo song, and should bring sheet music. Those interested in auditioning for a major role should be prepared to read a short scene from the script. There are speaking roles for ten men and four women, and a large ensemble of various ages (mostly over 18).

The musical will be directed by Ted Mitchell, marking his eighth spring production with the group. Judee Bottomley serves as choreographer, with musical direction by Dr. Anthony- Alexander Torelli. The team previously collaborated on a successful production of Jekyll and Hyde ten years ago, and have also worked together on productions of "Anything Goes," "Fiddler on the Roof," "Guys and Dolls," "Kiss Me, Kate," "The Drowsy Chaperone," and most recently, "Jesus Christ, Superstar."

Rehearsals will take two nights a week, starting the week of February 29. The show will have two weeks of performances, starting the first week in June.
